Braid FAQ

Q: How long will the braids last?

A: Mermaid braids typically last about a week, with the exact duration depending on hair length and thickness.

Q: Can you swim with them in?

A: Yes, you can gently swim with mermaid braids in a pool; however, they won't last well with those adventurous swimmers who love to do flips, twists, and dive bombs in the pool. Wearing a swimming cap or even a shower cap can help prevent the braids from lossening up too quickly.

Q: How long will it take?

A: It usually takes approximately 20-30 minutes per child to complete the braiding.

Q: Do you have any tips to keep them in longer?

A: To prolong the braids, consider using hair spray for added hold. At night, using silk or satin pillowcases or scarves can help reduce friction.

Q: Do I need clean hair?

A: Generally, hair that hasn't been washed for 1-2 days is easier to braid. However, please ensure your hair is washed if you've been swimming in a pool or the ocean before a braiding appointment, as chlorine or saltwater residue can make braiding more challenging.

Q: Does it hurt?

A: Some discomfort may occur, especially for children who are sensitive to hair being pulled or brushed. Individuals with fine hair might also be more sensitive to the tightness of the braids.

Q: How long does my hair need to be?

A: Mermaid braids work best with hair at least shoulder length. For shorter hair, we offer alternative braid options.

Q: Do you take bookings?

A: While we don't accept bookings at Eumundi Markets, appointments can be scheduled for our home studio in Cooroy or for on-location services. Please feel free to contact us for booking details.

Q: Do you offer services for parties or events?

A: Certainly, I am open to providing professional braiding services for your gatherings. Whether you're planning a special event in the beautiful setting of Hawaii or have other ideas, please feel free to contact me, and we can discuss the details further.
